# Protect private data

Encrypt personal conversations end-to-end, then encrypt sensitive files in cloud storage.

Private messages should be readable only by the people in the conversation. Sensitive files need storage where the provider cannot read their contents.

Use end-to-end encryption for personal communication where practical. Encrypt sensitive files before they go to the cloud, or use storage that is already end-to-end encrypted.
